This research project was aimed at using data from the journeys that individuals plan in advance of attending a major sports event, using a bespoke spectator journey planner called Travel Assistant from You.Smart.Thing, to identify possible network demand issues in such a way that mitigation measures can be deployed to minimise negative impact. 

Working with project stakeholders including Leed Rhinos (Headingley Stadium, Leeds, UK), Northern Trains, Avanti Trains, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Leeds City Council and Modeshift. In the Round spearheaded project delivery including extensive liaison with the project funders Innovate UK (on behalf the DfT).

The project has been met with high praise from the funding bodies and the wider rail industry as pioneering in assisting the sector to better understand and prepare for resilience required for large scale events.
