Spectator Travel and Transport Communication Strategy

December 2018 - February 2019

About the project

Cricket World Cup 2019 (CWC19) were concerned about the ability of spectators to understand their best travel options when travelling to, from and between venues for this high profile Cricket Tournament.

In addition, at some venues, their was concern about the ability of the local transport system to cope with the additional pressure placed up on it by visit fans particularly where start/finish times coincided with peak commuter times or when certain public transport services were not available. In the Round was commissioned to develop a Transport Communications Strategy with the aim of ensuring that all spectators understood their best travel options for getting to the Tournament as well as working with Host Cities to encourage them to communicate the travel impacts of the event to the local community. After extensive interrogation of ticket-buyer surveys and discussions with multiple functional areas within CWC19 including transport, marketing, communications and spectator services, a draft strategy was developed which was subject to a workshop with senior members of the CWC19 Team.

The Strategy was formally submitted to and accepted by CWC19. The Strategy was then mobilised across the Tournament and helped contribute to a highly successful event. .
